About
Hiking, nature photography, and the occasional trail story — in and around New York’s Hudson Valley.
Hiking.Photos is where I share the photos and videos I take on the trail, along with stories from my adventures.
I did most of my early hiking with friends back in high school and my first couple years of college, but the habit quietly faded once I hit my late twenties — life filled up, and I found myself spending far too much time indoors. When COVID-19 isolation set in, I decided it was time to get back out there. I made my reemergence on Memorial Day, 2020, and I’ve tried not to look back since.
Photography had always been a side interest, and every photo and video here was shot on my phone — it’s always in my pocket, so there’s no reason not to capture what catches my eye. I do it partly to share these places with anyone who’s curious, and partly to remember the trips by. There’s something grounding about stopping mid-hike to actually look — the light, the water, a view you’d otherwise walk right past. Slowing down to notice and record a little of the beauty Mother Nature offers is half the reason I go.
Have a look around — browse the latest hikes, or see them all on the map. And if you’d like to say hello, ask about a trail, or just talk photography, feel free to reach out.
